It runs on a dry hire basis, so you’re free to bring your own caterers, suppliers and style, and with no fixed music curfew, the party can go as late as you like, a genuine rarity on this coast.

You’ll also miss the peak-season crowds, so venues are calmer, quieter and often easier to book. A symbolic ceremony is what most of our couples choose, and it’s worth understanding why. It carries no legal weight in Spain, which sounds like a drawback and is really the point: no paperwork, no residency question, no registry timetable deciding your date.
You marry legally at home, usually a short appointment at a register office with two witnesses, then hold the ceremony you actually care about out here. That frees you completely. Any venue you like, in any language, rather than a government building in Spanish. A celebrant writes the ceremony around you instead of reading from a script, so hand-fastings, sand rituals, a friend officiating or vows in two languages are all straightforward. Boucleweddings

Legal Weddings in Spain
A legally binding civil wedding in Spain is difficult for non-residents, and this is the part most often reported wrongly online.
The process runs through a marriage file, the expediente matrimonial, opened at the Civil Registry. In practice, registries expect at least one of you to hold empadronamiento, formal registration on the local census, in the municipality where you marry. Some apply a two-year residency rule, others only ask for current registration. It varies by province and occasionally by the individual office handling your file. The conditions are strict. At least one of you must be a baptised Catholic, though most parishes will want to discuss your particular situation. Your baptism certificate usually has to have been issued within the last six months and carry a note confirming you haven’t been married before, so don’t request it too early.

What does a wedding in Spain cost for 100 guests?
Most of our couples land between €25,000 and €45,000, and the spread comes down to two things: the region, and whether the venue is dry hire or all-inclusive.
Dry hire looks cheaper and often isn’t. A €5,500 venue fee buys you a beautiful empty site, then catering, furniture, staff, flowers and IVA all sit on top. All-inclusive starts higher and finishes with fewer surprises.

Where are the most popular places to get married in Spain?

When is the best time of year to get married in Spain?
Late spring and early autumn are the sweet spot, roughly May to June and September to October, when the weather is warm and dry without the peak summer heat. July and August are gloriously sunny but hot, so many couples plan a later ceremony in the afternoon. Winter is mild in the south and often the best season for availability and value.
How far in advance should we book?
For a popular venue on a peak season Saturday, 12 to 18 months is sensible, because the best dates go early. If you’re flexible on your date, or open to spring, autumn or a weekday, you can often book on a shorter timeline. Either way, it’s worth checking availability before you fall for a specific venue.
Can we see the venue before we book?
Yes, and we’d encourage it. We’ll take you round your shortlist in person if you can get out here, or walk you through them on a live video call if you can’t, which is how a lot of our couples do it. Either way you’ll see the parts the photographs never show, and we’ll tell you what we think.
Do we have to be residents to get married in Spain, and what about the legal side?
A legally binding civil wedding in Spain can be involved for non residents, so many international couples hold their ceremony here and complete the legal formalities at home. That way you get the Spanish celebration without the red tape. Church weddings are also possible if you meet the requirements, and we’ll talk you through the options for your situation.
What happens if it rains?
Most days here are dry, and every venue we recommend has a wet-weather plan. What’s worth knowing is that covered space is usually smaller than the outdoor space, so somewhere that seats 200 in the garden might shelter 80. We check the real numbers before you fall for a venue, and if there’s a gap we’ll price it into your budget from the start.
